Agriculture

Located where the rolling prairies meet the Rocky Mountains, Pincher Creek is a community with a long history of farming and ranching. Since the pioneering era, many generations have farmed the land and raised livestock in the fertile beauty of this vast prairie landscape.

Today, agriculture remains at the heart of Pincher Creek’s economy and culture. The warm sunny climate and irrigation produce a diversified crop base, which in turn provides feed for livestock and raw materials for food processing industries and export markets. With more than 2000 farms and ranches in the area, Pincher Creek farmers and ranchers make a tremendous contribution to the overall Canadian agriculture industry.

From crops to cattle, Pincher Creek farmers and ranchers are a diverse group of rural entrepreneurs who have adopted a pro-active approach to the agri-business industry. This approach embraces the desire to build a sustainable future while maintaining the traditional values of rural lifestyle.
